Bicentennial Park

Bicentennial Park is a regional park created from reclaimed land, which had been operating as a local tip since 1959.

Since its redevelopment, which began with the first playground built on the site in 1981, the park has become a much-loved and widely used community asset.

Improvements have included a skate park in 1990, a rotunda in 1993, and a new pavilion for the baseball club in 1994.

In 2017, a major project aimed at improving facilities for the use of local youths saw the completion of a new skate park with mogul plaza, a youth zone featuring a multi-court area featuring soccer and basketball goals and spectator seating, a stage, timber climbing poles and a DJ table.

A centrepiece of the park is the huge adventure playground, developed in 2010, which comprises two long slides, a Smurf village with a music hut, a story hut and a play hut complete with a mooing cow, sculptural garden, a shaded sand pit, a giant basket swing, hammock, the Mount Chelsea Express train, huge green grasshopper, stand-on spinners, spiral slide, rope climbing frame, stepping stones, chain traverse, tic-tac-toe, monkey bars, flying fox, a wooden structure with various ladders, poles and slides and a Liberty Swing for people with mobility difficulties accessed with a MLAK key.

For older residents, there are kilometres of walking trails connecting up to the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands Trail and the Longbeach Trail, a fitness track which is home to the local Park Run and a Disc Golf course.

For more relaxing activities, the park has numerous shelters with BBQs and tables, toilets, seats and water taps, with a focus on improved pathways and lighting in the park to increase public safety.
