An essential sporting precinct and recreation area, home to many local sporting teams, and facilities for community use.

Ben Kavanagh Reserve is home to a wide range of local sports groups including the Mordialloc Sporting Club, Mordialloc Super Rules Football Club, Mordialloc Junior Football Club, Mordialloc Football/Netball Club, Mordialloc Cricket Club, Mordialloc Bowls Club, and the Longbeach Petanque group.

Recent improvements to the reserve includes a new accessible, all gender-friendly two storey sports pavilion, upgraded car park, improved walking paths, exercise stations forming an outdoor gym, new lighting, landscaping, drainage and playground improvements.

A new multi-sports area was built comprising basketball half court, tennis rebound wall, cricket nets, soccer goals, new netball courts, two bocce courts with gravel base and a water tap.

The refurbished, fenced playground has a large wooden climbing structure with two slides, pole, rope ladder and scrambling wall, as well as separate slides, swings, see-saw, springers, and cubby house, with shelter, seating and drinking fountain.
