Parkdale Yacht Club precinct improvements

Works began on the $2.9 million facility for Parkdale Yacht Club early in 2020. The building was completed in April 2021 with car park and bay trail completion in November 2023, and completion of the new accessible ramp to the foreshore in June 2024.

The building, funded by Kingston Council with a $100,000 contribution from the yacht club, was designed in consultation with the club and community groups and will also be used by the Kingston District Girl Guides and Beach Patrol Australia.

The original club was first established in 1946 and the former clubhouse was built in 1964. The newly completed facility will ensure the club’s future for decades to come.

New accessible pedestrian ramp to foreshore

We're working to improve access to Kingston's beaches and as part of this commitment, we have upgraded beach access at the Parkdale Yacht Club. In addition to the new dedicated accessible parking bay in the car park, and following feedback from a recent community consultation we have installed an accessible pedestrian ramp down to the beach.

The new ramp complies with accessibility standards and also includes seating at sections along the ramp for people to enjoy the lovely bay views.

The existing non-compliant ramp has been decommissioned and the new ramp will allow travellers of all abilities to enjoy the beach such as those with wheelchairs, prams and other mobility issues (or people carting heavy equipment) to access the beach safely. This accessible pedestrian ramp was delivered with the support of a $150,000 contribution from the Victorian Government.

Wayfinding signage

New wayfinding signage in line with Council’s newly branded wayfinding guidelines is planned for installation around the Parkdale Yacht Club precinct in July 2024. This new signage will make it easier for visitors to the area find their way to access facilities that are important to them.
