Celebrating sustainable business practices in Kingston

Nominations have opened for this year’s Kingston Sustainable Business Awards.

Now in their third year, the awards celebrate and highlight what is being achieved across our business community in a broad range of sustainability initiatives. 

Mayor Georgina Oxley is urging people to nominate the businesses and individuals who are doing great things.

“We started these awards to celebrate innovation, increase awareness and demonstrate how sustainable business practices benefit our community and our environment,” Cr Oxley said.

“We have so many local businesses who are leading the way in this space and we want all those making a real difference to be recognised – let us know who inspires you by nominating them today.” 

The Sustainable Business Awards are presented across six categories:

• Waste Reduction and Recycling Solutions - recognising businesses and initiatives that demonstrate efforts to reduce waste generation, promote recycling, and implement solutions for sustainable waste management practices.
• Diversity and Inclusion - recognising businesses that excel in supporting diversity and inclusion through inclusive employment initiatives in Kingston.
• Small and Medium Business Leadership - recognising outstanding achievements by small to medium businesses that integrate environmental and/or social sustainability principles and practices into their business activities and policies.
• Towards Net Zero 2030 - recognising businesses who are driving towards net zero through improving efficiency, renewable energy production and carbon emission reduction.
• Product Innovation and Technology - recognising businesses who develop innovative products and technologies that have the potential of significantly addressing climate change mitigation, adaptation, or resilience.
• Young Changemakers and Innovators - recognising young people (under 35 years old) who have developed ideas or implemented positive change in sustainability. 

This year’s awards are again being supported by Community Bank Parkdale as major sponsor.
