Christmas decorations

Festive cheer is back for another year in Kingston.

Council has responded to community calls for greater investment in decorations to bring a sense of community pride at this special time of year by undertaking major installations in 10 of our key shopping precincts.

In 2023, festive decorations returned under a new strategy, off the back of positive feedback from our residents and business community.

This year’s roll out will include:

  • 5m high trees in the Mordialloc retail precinct, at Carrum Foreshore Park and the Kingston City Hall – a key gateway to our city
  • Awning and large star decorations at Mentone Heritage Station Gardens
  • Four medium tree decorations at Dingley Village
  • A large star decoration at the Strand, and four medium tree decorations in the Chelsea retail precinct
  • A medium star decoration at Beeson Reserve, and four medium tree decorations at the Edithvale Shopping Centre
  • Six medium tree decorations in Aspendale Shopping Centre
  • A medium star decoration, 15 plant box decorations, and four medium tree decorations at Parkdale Shopping Centre.
  • Four tree decorations at Highett Shopping Centre.

We are also supporting individual traders by providing free window decals for them to display and encouraging the community to support our local businesses during this peak retail season.

Hundreds of small businesses displayed the free decorative decals last year, and decals will again be distributed to key retail centres this year. Any business that would like a free decal can contact the Kingston Business team at business@kingston.vic.gov.au.

Installation is underway, with the decorations to remain in place until around mid-January.
