The Historical Radio Society of Australia (HRSA)

Astor-GS-Save

This large organisation collects and restores vintage radios. They also have an interest in all bygone radio history. Many of the radios are the valve type, though early transistor radios and Hi-Fi are now in their interest.

Many of the radios have stylish cabinets, from art deco to simply perfect for the mantlepiece.

You are welcome to attend a meeting to meet like-minded enthusiasts and see if the HRSA is for you.

There are regular displays, sales and auctions, to enable growing your own nice collection. The colour magazine is top class and you can learn techniques in the magazine, at meetings, and through personal contacts.

The club suits people who have been technicians, Radio Amateurs or those who simply have an interest in Radio.

Every 3 to 5 years we stage Australia's largest radio display. The Society has about 50,000 new or good used valves and some parts, for members to purchase, so they can complete their projects.

Many radios are restored to like new. No prior electronics knowledge is required, however repairs are made by members who know and respect the voltages in the radios.

Membership is only $50 per year with four issues of the Radio Waves magazine. Each issue of Radio Waves contains at least 76 pages, 64 in full colour and 12 of classified adverts (insertion of adverts is free to members).

The HRSA HQ is in Dingley Village, however meetings are in Mulgrave. See https://hrsa.org.au.
