Mordialloc Boating & Angling Club

MB70-2-054

The Mordialloc Boating and Angling Club (MBAC) has been an integral part of the boating and fishing community of Mordialloc Creek since the club’s inception in 1946.  Currently with approximately 80 members, the MBAC makes a significant contribution to the character of Mordialloc through the ownership and maintenance of traditional wooden boats moored within Mordialloc Creek.

Owning a traditional wooden boat permanently moored in Mordialloc Creek involves a substantial commitment, both in time and monetary terms.  The boats are constantly exposed to elements, marine organisms, tide and storm activity, and occasionally to vandalism.

The ability to bring a boat out of the water on a regular basis is critical in maintaining the traditional wooden boats in Mordialloc Creek.  For this purpose, the MBAC has operated a slipway at Pompei’s Landing since the 1950’s.  MBAC facilities include an adjacent shed which provides access to power, water and specialised equipment for boat maintenance and repair.

The MBAC also occupies an area of land adjacent to the slipway used for longer term boat maintenance, repair and re-build works.  For such works, boats are removed from the creek on trolleys via the boat ramp and parked in the hard-stand area for the duration of the works.

Member of the pubilc are encouraged to drop in to the MBAC area located adjacent to the Nepean Highway at Pompei's Landing to check out our boats and the work undertaken by our members.
