With diverse events ranging from the heartwarming Australian musical The Sunshine Club, to classic tunes, swing dancing, and vintage cocktails, we invite you to celebrate the enduring legacy of this remarkable period. 

A celebration of the music, fashion, and spirit of one of the most memorable decades in history, join us for an unforgettable experience that will transport you back to the golden age of swing and sophistication. 

Swing Dance Class

Thursday 13 June, 7pm – 8pm

Whether you're looking to learn the basics, impress on the dance floor, or simply have a blast with friends, our Swing Dancing Class promises to be a fun and engaging evening. Channel the spirit of 1940s fashion to be in the running for some great prizes, snap a memorable pic at our photo booth, or just grab your dancing shoes for an unforgettable journey through the swing era.

No experience required - friendly instructors from Swing Patrol will guide you through the steps.

Jack Earle Big Band

Thursday 13 June, 8pm – 9pm

Practice your dance moves, or sit back, and relax, and enjoy classic tunes from the height of the big band era. With a reputation as one of Melbourne's hottest large ensembles, the 17-piece Jack Earle Big Band will get the joint jumping with music from the likes of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey and more.

Learn how to craft old favourites such as Old Fashioneds, Martinis, and Daiquiris, under the guidance of expert mixologists from Liquid Infusions. Discover the art of crafting your own signature drinks, and immerse yourself in the world of cocktail creation as you are guided through the intricate steps of shaking, muddling, and blending, ensuring every sip is an unforgettable experience. The Sunshine Club

Saturday 15 June, 8pm

Set in 1946, the joyful and acclaimed musical The Sunshine Club tells the story of Aboriginal soldier Frank Doyle, who returns home to Brisbane after serving in WW2, to find that, while the world may have changed, the same attitudes and prejudices still exist at home.

Before immersing yourself in The Sunshine Club, grab a drink from our lounge bar and enjoy the sounds of the era with a free jazz performance by the Orlando Combo quartet.

Moviehouse

Monday 17 June 10:30am

Moviehouse offers a diverse selection of cinematic wonders from bygone eras, with an annual membership of just $25. On 17 June, enjoy the 1947 film noir classic Dark Passage, in which a man convicted of murder escapes from prison and tries to prove his innocence with the help of a sympathetic artist. 

Join us for a cuppa at 10am before the film starts at 10.30am

Morning Melodies

Tuesday 18 June, 11.00am

It's De-Lovely - A Celebration of Cole Porter brings together some of Porter's greatest hits from Broadway and Hollywood's most popular musicals in this elegant, jazzy production. Starring International cabaret performer and jazz singer Belinda Hanne-Reid along with a special guest artist, and accompanied by Mark Bradley on piano. It's De-Lovely features songs like Let's Do It Let's Fall In Love, I Get A Kick Out of You, Night and Day, Begin the Beguine, I've Got You Under My Skin, You're The Top, True Love and many more.

Arrive early for morning tea and Wurlitzer Organ performance from 10.30am.
